The Negros ICC Blue Hawks suffered their second consecutive defeat in the 2024 MPVA Season after bowing to the Quezon Tangerines, 25-27, 25-20, 25-11, 25-16, at the Paco Arena in Manila on Tuesday night, September 10.

Rhea Mae Densing finished with a team-high of 21 points, built on 20 attacks and one block, as the Tangerines remained on top of the standings with a perfect 5-0 win-loss record.

According to Densing, it was the Tangerines’ in-game adjustments following their stunning first set defeat that paved the way to their come-from-behind triumph against the Blue Hawks.

“Tiwala lang sa sarili and makinig sa coaches, and ‘yung mga mistakes po namin iko-correct lang namin. Kinailangan lang namin mag-step up din,” Densing said in her Player of the Game interview.

The Blue Hawks dropped to a 3-4 win-loss slate after sustaining their second defeat in as many matches.

Meanwhile, the Bacoor City Strikers notched their fifth victory in six matches following a 25-19, 25-23, 25-20 straight set victory against the Biñan Tatak Gel 1-Pacman Partylist Volley Angels (3-3).

Winnie Bedaña was hailed Player of the Game after dominating the net with four blocks paired with four attacks and a service ace to end up with nine markers for the defending champions.

“Happy po kami kasi kahit paunti-unti, nakikita namin ‘yung improvement namin as a team and as an individual din,” Bedaña said in a post-game interview.

“Mas namo-motivate kami kasi kahit one step at a time nakikita namin na nagkakaroon kami ng improvement as a team,” the University of Perpetual Help Lady Altas standout added./ASC, WDJ
