The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Bacolod City has already identified financiers involved in illegal gambling.

NBI-Bacolod chief Atty. Renoir Baldovino said they are preparing to issue a subpoena against the financiers, who are engaged in the bookies operations of the Small Town Lottery (STL).

Baldovino said the collected bets are sent to the financiers’ coordinators, through money remittance centers.

They are using the results of legitimate STL operations.

He said most of the arrested bet solicitors are unemployed, while others are tricycle drivers and vendors.

The reports also indicated that a relative of a government official in northern Negros was allegedly financing illegal gambling operations./WDJ
