The Negros Occidental provincial government has begun making preparations for hosting the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet in April of this year.
Provincial administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz said Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson expressed interest in hosting the regional meet, as the provincial government is now preparing facilities where the games and sporting events could be held.
The two main venues for the WVRAA are the Panaad Park and Stadium, and the Paglaum Sports Complex.
Renovations and construction works are still ongoing at the Panaad Park and the covered court where basketball and volleyball games are going to be held.
The local government unit pavilions, usually used during the Panaad sa Negros Festival in April, are also being eyed to be utilized during the games.
The pavilions will be opened if the province successfully gets the hosting rights for the meet.
