An eight-year-old boy died after he was hit by an ambulance along the national highway at Barangay Rizal in Negros Occidental’s Silay City on Sunday night, December 24.
Silay police chief, Major Rhea Sarah Villanueva, said the ambulance, driven by 42-year-old Mark Anthony Rubi, a resident of Hinoba-an town, was transporting a patient from Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital to Bacolod City.
Villanueva said the ambulance, traveling at a high speed, accidentally hit the victim who suddenly crossed the highway.
The boy was brought to the district hospital in Silay before being transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City.
However, he succumbed to injuries on the head on Monday, December 25.
Rubi is detained at the custodial facility of Silay police station./JB, WDJ
