The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) has granted IPM-Construction and Development Corporation (IPM-CDC) a one-month extension for its environmental and sanitary service contract.
IPM-CDC’s contracts with the city government for garbage hauling and collection, worth P156,399,150, and for the management of the sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa, worth P63,998,000, will lapse on December 31.
The SP extended the contracts as they will conduct biddings for new contractors.
Councilor Claudio Jesus Puentevella, chair of the SP committee on environment and Solid Waste Management Board member, said Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez wants to conduct bidding for the hauling services in February 2024.
The city government usually extends service contracts for a maximum of four months.
However, for next year, the contract extension will be limited to only a month.
Puentevella said the new garbage hauler’s contract will be for 11 months.
IPM-CDC can still join the bidding, Puentevella said./MS, WDJ
