The Negros Occidental provincial government has tightened security measures at the Provincial Capitol after robbers carted away more than P470,000 worth of supplies from the Provincial Engineer’s Office motorpool on Bacolod City’s Gatuslao Street.

Atty. Alberto Nellas, Provincial Legal Office head, said yesterday that they will install additional security cameras in their facilities.

Nellas said that they are now coordinating with the Bacolod City Police Office for a case build-up.

Several persons of interest have already been identified, but Nellas has refused to name them.

It was determined that no closed-circuit television cameras were installed inside the motorpool.

Arnel Argusar, Provincial General Services Office head, said they discovered the robbery following their regular inventory on October 31.

The stolen items were 21 vehicle batteries and motor oil.

According to their initial probe, the burglars accessed a hole in the wall of the motorpool’s supply room.

The hole was not easily noticed as it was covered with hollow blocks.

Argusar believed that the suspects had been occupying the house adjacent to the supply room.

An investigation is being conducted to determine the possibility of an inside job./DGB, WDJ
