Possible candidates for the Negros Occidental vice gubernatorial bid in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections have surfaced on Friday, December 1.
According to some reliable sources inside the provincial government, the individuals who have been shortlisted by the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) as Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer’s possible replacement are:
* Negros Occidental Board Member Jose Marie Alonso
* Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo
* Himamaylan City Mayor Raymund Tongson
* La Castellana Mayor Rhumylla Mangilimutan
Only Mangilimutan said that she was ready to run for vice governor.
Cadiz City Mayor and UNegA secretary-general Salvador Escalante, Jr. was floated as a possible replacement for Ferrer, but he said he is planning to finish his term as mayor first.
UNegA is also scheduled to hold a general meeting this month, and possibly discuss who they will be fielding for vice governor in 2025.
In November, Ferrer said he would no longer run for a final term as Negros Occidental vice governor./DGB, WDJ
