The Bacolod City Legal Office (CLO) is planning to investigate the viral video circulating on social media, showing part of the commotion during the demolition of houses along the Mambulok creek in the city’s Barangay 2 on July 28.

CLO head, Romeo Carlos Ting, Jr. said as of now there were no complaints submitted to their office following the viral video, which drew criticism against the City Enforcement Team (CET).

The video was posted by a radio station on its Facebook page last week.

Ting explained that the incident was “normal” whenever there is a demolition conducted.

“There is always tension,” Ting said.

“Ang ila gin-obra sang team, gin-restrain lang man ang tawo para wala sang habuhanay pa nga matabo,” he added.

Earlier, CET head Rey Demisana and Police Staff Sergeant Lan Elec Demafelis filed a complaint at the City Prosecutor’s Office through an inquest proceeding against Junjun Meniao, a resident of Barangay 6, for the charges of light threats, resistance and disobedience to an agent of a person of authority.

Meniao allegedly got angry when he learned that the jetmatic pump had been accidentally destroyed by the backhoe during the clearing operation beside the creek.

“While they operate as a demolition team of illegal structure at Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, a person subject was creating a scandalous act and tend to attempt an attack to the complainants, while he holds a stone in his both hands to strike to the head of the demolition team. Fortunately, he was subdued by the other members of CET,” a blotter report read.

Ting said the city is willing to fix damaged or destroyed properties which were not part of the demolition.

He added he received information that the respondents would also file counter charges against the complainants in the fiscal’s office.

“In case they file a complaint, we will accommodate it and we are willing to conduct an investigation,” he added.

The CET conducted the demolition of 32 houses along the creek in Barangays 2 and 6./MS, WDJ
