The Department of Labor and Employment in Western Visayas (DOLE-6) will hold a jobs fair on Monday, June 12, as part of the celebration of Independence Day.
DOLE-6 Regional Director Atty. Sixto Rodriguez said they have invited 51 companies to participate in the 2023 Kalayaan Jobs Fair.
Among the job vacancies that are on offer include construction, business process outsourcing, transportation services, and whole and retail services, with a total of 1,230 vacancies.
Several job vacancies abroad are also available.
Rodriguez said applicants only need to bring their personal data requirements.
First-time job seekers should bring an identification card and a certification from the barangay.
They are encouraging participating companies to hire applicants on the spot.
Aside from the jobs fair, Rodriguez said they will also host other events such as the releasing of checks for 1,224 Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers, and an advocacy campaign against child labor.
Several help desks will also be available during the event, such as the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), which will be giving out NBI clearances.
The NBI clearance will be free for first-time job seekers.
Also participating are the Department of Foreign Affairs, which will be handling requirements for job seekers who are applying for a passport; and the Social Security System and Pag-IBIG Fund, which will be handling web registration and online verification.
Rodriguez added that the venue will be open for jobs fair registration at 9:00 a.m./DGB, WDJ
