A man, who was under the influence of alcohol, allegedly robbed two loan collectors in Barangay Caliban in Negros Occidental’s Murcia town on Sunday, May 14.

The suspect was identified as 35-year-old Fernando Camporaso, Jr.

Murcia police chief, Police Major Joeil Reclamado, said the victims — Jenelyn Suico and Glenn Ortaniza, both 35 years old, collectors of a lending company in Bacolod City — rode a motorcycle when the suspect allegedly declared a hold-up.

He threatened the two with an improvised fish bow and took P7,800 cash from them.

Witnesses said Camporaso was drunk.

After he staged the robbery, he climbed on the old bridge’s steel truss.

The town police and some barangay personnel responded to the scene and negotiated with the suspect to come down from the structure.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the police station.

A robbery complaint was filed against him yesterday morning, Reclamado said./WDJ
