The number of residents in Negros Occidental that are registered with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys ID) is now at 2,364,549 in 2022.

In a radio interview yesterday morning, Luis Gonzales, the head of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Bacolod City, said the numbers indicate that around 75 to 80 percent of the total population in Negros Occidental are now registered.

Based on their 2020 census, the province has a population of more than three million people.

Of the more than 2.3 million registered Negrenses, 1,250,000 have already received their identification cards (IDs), while the remaining individuals have been issued with temporary IDs.

Gonzales added that registration for PhilSys ID is still ongoing in different cities, municipalities and select shopping malls across the province.

At present, the PSA targets to register minors aged between one and four years old./DGB, WDJ
