Agtuso Football Club-A emerged as champion in the Under-15 category of the Tita Inday’s Football Festival Adventure held recently at the Camella Savannah Football Field in Iloilo province’s Oton town.
Numer Aperocho emerged as the hero for Iloilo’s Barotac Nuevo-based Agtuso FC-A as he converted all the two goals in their 2-0 beating of So-ol Football Club in the championship match.
Aperocho, a native of Roxas City, was scorching for the Agtuso FC-A as he knocked down back-to-back goals in the first 10 minutes of the game to surge his squad to a 2-0 lead.
So-ol FC attempted to come close in the remainder of the first half, but could not penetrate the defense of Agtuso. The team continued its tight defending in the second half to preserve the championship.
Aperocho was later named as the Under-15 division’s Most Valuable Player, while his teammate Jhon Carlo Gomez was the Best Goalkeeper for his impressive defense the entire tournament.
During the preliminary round, the Victorino Piao-mentored Agtuso FC prevailed over their group mates — Calinog Football Club-A, Jamindan Football Club B, Karabaw Football Club, and Central Philippine University B.
Agtuso FC-A made its way to the championship round following a 2-1 victory over their sister team Agtuso FC-B in the semifinals round, behind the two first half conversions of JL Cañanga.
Also part of the Agtuso FC-A squad were Vincent Ardeloso, Kian Bela-ong, Nilmar Deocales, Rolle Bayo-ang, JV Ramirez, Anthony Teologia, Joachim Arciga, and Kent Tupaz.
It was actually a double celebration for the Agtuso FC team as their Under-10 squad also ruled their division, while their Under-17 squad fell short of a podium finish in the one-day event.
“Amidst all the hardship and battle, in the end, our Agtuso FC team emerged as champions in the Under-15 and Under-10 divisions,” the football team wrote on their Facebook page.
“Together, we will continue to fly like an eagle and fight like a wolf,” the team added./ASC, WDJ
