The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Bacolod City Police Office will validate information regarding some barangay officials in the city who are allegedly involved in illegal drug activities.
CDEU head, Police Lt. Joven Mogato said they will regard such information as mere hearsay for now, until it is validated.
Mogato pointed out that some people are just trying to ruin the names of the village officials for their personal interests.
Among the information they received includes officials allegedly using or selling illegal drugs, or serving as protectors for druggies in their respective areas.
Earlier this month, Bacolod City’s Barangay Alijis Kagawad Abby Araneta was arrested after yielding 13 plastic sachets of suspected shabu with a combined weight of 201 grams valued at P1,366,800.
Araneta was a former Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson and presently a second-term barangay council member./DGB, WDJ
