A police officer was killed while two others were injured following a road accident in Barangay 5, Isabela, Negros Occidental on Sunday, January 30.

Police identified the fatality as Patrolman Michael Cuanico, a resident of Binalbagan town.

One of the injured, meanwhile, is identified as Melmar Tubrea, a tricycle driver. Another injured, his passenger, has requested not to be identified.

Based on an investigation carried out by Isabela police, Cuanico was driving his motorcycle and attempted to overtake a tricycle.

However, the policeman lost control of his motorcycle and collided with Tubrea’s tricycle, police said.

All three victims were rushed to the town’s district hospital, however, Cuanico was declared dead-on-arrival by hospital staff.

Cuanico is assigned under the Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station./DGB, WDJ
