As the country now awaits for the guidelines on booster shots which is expected to be released anytime this month, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said they will concentrate the distribution of COVID-19 booster shots to persons who have existing comorbidities and senior citizens.
According to Lacson, once the Department of Health (DOH) gives the go ahead for the distribution of booster shots, then they would also proceed.
However, he pointed out priority would still be given to those who have yet to receive the vaccine.
Lacson said they have already gone directly to the province’s barangay captains for help in further boosting interest to the province’s residents to get vaccinated.
“I’m also putting responsibility on them to create demand in their respective barangays,” Lacson said.
Based on data released by the DOH in Western Visayas last Monday, Negros Occidental has a total of 367,775 of 1,825,370 target individuals who are already vaccinated against COVID-19./DGB, WDJ
