A university dean and two doctors hit with coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19, have died, the Kabankalan City information officer said Tuesday, November 2.
Kabankalan City Public Information Officer Jake Gonzales identified them as Dr. Lorina Baylon Crobes, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the Central Philippine State University (CPSU), and Dr. Gladys Patindol of the Kabankalan District Hospital.
Another government physician, Dr. John Vic Caagbay of the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital, also passed away due to COVID-19.
The CPSU main campus in the city’s Barangay Camingawan is closed until November 15 for disinfection.
During the recent meeting of the City Development Council, Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco Jr. called on barangay captains to help in the intensified vaccination campaign.
Zayco said the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 will be brought by the city government to the level of the barangays.
“The role of the barangay officials is important as we try to reach herd immunity,” the mayor said./DGB, WDJ
