A drunk passenger was nabbed on All Saints’ Day, November 1, after he allegedly attempted to pay a bus conductor with his own firearm in the town of Don Salvador Benedicto in Negros Occidental.

Police identified the arrested as 53-year-old Martin Guiquin, a resident of Barangay Sta. Rosa in Murcia town.

Don Salvador Benedicto police chief, Police Captain Eugene Tolentino, said Guiquin rode a bus along Crossing Igmayaan.

Guiquin was described to be so intoxicated that the bus conductor Joeny Paciente even had to assist him so he could get into the vehicle.

Upon reaching Purok Logdeck in the town’s Barangay Igmaya-an, Paciente told him to pay his fare, however, Guiquin instead showed his .45 caliber pistol inside his bag.

The bus conductor and the driver immediately grabbed Guiquin’s firearm and immediately sought the help of police which ultimately led to the drunk passenger’s arrest.

Guiquin is facing charges of illegal possession of firearms and he is presently detained at the Don Salvador Benedicto Municipal Police Station./DGB, WDJ
