The Coast Guard District in Western Visayas (CGDWV) now has a new commander after the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) National Headquarters in Metro Manila conducted a joint turnover ceremony on Monday, October 4.
Captain Edgar Ybañez replaced outgoing CGDWV commander, Commodore Hostillo Arturo Cornelio, who has been reassigned to command the Coast Guard District National Capital Region-Central Luzon.
Ybañez was previously assigned as the district commander of Coast Guard District North Eastern Luzon.
In his speech during the turnover ceremony, PCG commandant, Vice Admiral Leopoldo Laroya, lauded the outgoing commanders for their outstanding performances from their previous areas of responsibility.
He also reminded all incoming commanders to continue the projects being initiated, ensure proper enforcement of laws, and support PCG Auxiliary volunteers.
He also urged them to always serve the people with humility, dignity, and compassion./DGB, WDJ
