Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has recently provided an explanation as to why he didn’t sign a manifesto released by the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) supporting the candidacy of President Rodrigo Duterte for the vice presidency in the 2022 elections.
According to Lacson, he is a member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) which is under Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
Sotto is set to run for Vice President in the 2022 elections, running alongside Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, who will be running for President.
The governor said it is possible their party in Negros Occidental will support Sotto instead in the upcoming polls.
However, he stated the mayors in the province are free to choose the candidate they will support.
Previously, Lacson said they will reveal who they will support in the upcoming polls once the filing of the certificates of candidacy takes place next month.
