Construction worker nabbed for gun

A 38-year-old construction worker was arrested after he pointed his gun to a welder at Purok Dahlia, Barangay Abuanan in Bago City, Negros Occidental around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7.

Bago City police chief Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong identified the suspect as Michael Jara, a resident of Purok Maabi-abihon in Barangay 35, Bacolod City.

Police investigation revealed that Jara was driving a Canter truck while the victim, 45-year-old Jude Genovis, Sr. of Purok 18, Barangay La Granja, La Carlota City, was onboard his Racal three-wheeler in the opposite direction.

The suspect allegedly stopped in front of the victim’s vehicle and a heated argument ensued which later prompted the suspect to draw his firearm, police added.

A police officer from 2nd Negros Occidental Police Mobile Force Company happened to pass by the area and after introducing himself, he arrested the suspect and confiscated a .357 revolver with six live bullets.

The suspect was immediately turned over to Bago City Police Station. He is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./WDJ
