The Iloilo City government is eyeing to fully vaccinate by end of September 50 percent of its target 525,000 population to achieve herd immunity.
As of September 7, close to 29% or 151,949 individuals in the city are already fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The remaining 134,029 who got their first dose of vaccines are waiting for their second dose schedule set based on brand’s interval.
The city government is expecting to reach the requirement of 75% fully vaccinated by December.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Treñas will be requesting the National Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to consider vaccinating children 12 to 17 years old considering they are vulnerable to viral infection.
The mayor will also be asking the IATF for possible booster shots for healthcare workers and frontliners first because they are exposed and at high-risk of getting infected in their jobs./WDJ
