The town of Toboso became the latest local government unit (LGU) in Negros Occidental to offer incentives in exchange for getting vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19.
Toboso Mayor Richard Jaojoco, in a social media post, introduced an incentive called “VACC 2 SCHOOL” program for teachers in the town.
He said every school in the town will receive P2,000 for each of their respective teachers who will get vaccinated.
The mayor explained he made the incentive in order to entice the town’s local teachers to get the jab.
Last month, Escalante City Mayor Melecio “Beboy” Yap announced that senior citizens in the city who will get vaccinated against COVID-19 will receive three kilos of rice and one can of a premium-brand corned beef.
The local government of Don Salvador Benedicto also mulled holding a raffle draw for the town’s residents who will get the vaccine, although as of this month it had not yet officially stated if it will push through with the plan./DGB, WDJ
