Two more cases of the more transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19 had been detected in Bacolod City, City Administrator Em Ang said yesterday.
According to Ang, who is also the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF) executive director and COVID-19 Vaccination Council coordinator, they received an information from the Philippine Genome Center that the patients include a 63-year-old female and a three-year-old boy.
Although the new cases are both from Barangay Mansilingan, Ang clarified that they are not related.
As of this writing, the two additional Delta cases were already released from the isolation facility and were not already tagged as active cases. Contact tracing is ongoing.
Last week, Bacolod recorded its two first Delta cases from barangays Banago and Sum-ag.
Ang said both cases tested positive for COVID-19 in July yet and have already recovered.
The cases were presently in their respective houses after having been isolated in quarantine facilities last month.
The Delta case from Barangay Banago, a 71-year-old male, was asymptomatic and had not received a vaccine against COVID-19. He also had no travel history./WDJ
