Negros jins shine in Asian taekwondo tourney

Negros Taekwondo Union (NTU)-Tigers New Gen had a strong showing during the recent 2021 Smart/MVPSF Asian Open Online Taekwondo Poomsae & Speed Kicking Championships.

The Negros Occidental-based taekwondo jins took home a total of 10 golds, 13 silvers and 10 bronze medals—8-7-3 gold-silver-bronze in speed kicking and 2-6-7 in poomsae events.

Bannering the gold medal winners in speed kicking were Leigh Andee Rodriguez in junior female light welterweight black, Arthur Diaz in junior male fin weight black and EJ Aliñar in junior men feather-light weight blue.

Jerick Joseph Paiwas also had a gold medal in cadet male light welter black, Manuel Eduardo III Machado in cadet male featherweight brown and Wynnona Kiara Chavez in cadet female fly-feather weight red.

Also with speed kicking gold medals for NTU-Tigers New Gen were Julian Ignatius Sabay in kids male 10-year-old brown and Cypher Daniel Rojas in the mini kids male 8-year-old blue.

Capturing speed kicking silver were Julio Miguel Zapata in junior men flyweight black, Kenjie Aunzo in cadet female middle heavy brown, Cydric Johnrod Rojas in cadet male middle brown, Christophe Terence Avanceña in kids male 10-year-old brown, Francine Launio in cadet female light brown, Christelle Therese Avanceña in junior women fin bantamweight red, and Paulo Lopez in kids male 9-year-old blue.

Bronze medal winners in speed kicking were Alexander Josef Marañon in mini kids 8-year-old red, Cipriano IV Lumanog in cadet male fin weight brown and Cyrah Marie Rojas in kids female 11-year-old blue.

Meanwhile, gold medal winners for NTU-Tigers New Gen in poomsae were Ceanne Kyle Rosquillo in senior male 20-year-old black and Cyan James Rojas in mini kids male 6-7-year-old 8th-7th KUP.

Silver medal winners in poomsae were Jamie Hannah Agaloos in junior women 16-year-old black, Arthur Diaz in junior men 17-year-old black, Kenjie Aunzo in cadet female 14-year-old 2nd-1st KUP, Christophe Terence Avanceña in kids male 10-year-old 2nd-1st KUP, Christelle Therese Avanceña in junior women 15-year-old 4th-3rd KUP, and EJ Aliñar in junior male 17-year-old 6th-5th KUP.

Bronze winners in poomsae were Julienne Beatriz Zapata in cadet female 12-year-old black, Jerik Joseph Paiwas cadet male 14-year-old black, Manuel Eduardo III Machado in cadet male 13-year-old 2nd-1st KUP, Cydric Johnrod Rojas in cadet male 14-year-old 2nd-1st KUP, Julian Ignatius Sabay in kids male 10-year-old 2nd-1st KUP, Wynnona Kiarra Chavez in cadet female 12-year-old 4th-3rd KUP, and Alexander Josef Marañon in mini kids 8-year-old 4th-3rd KUP./ASC, WDJ
