As the provincial government of Negros Occidental conducts a simultaneous vaccine rollout in 31 local government units (LGUs) today, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said they will adopt a new system in order to improve the vaccine rollout in the province.
According to Diaz, under the new system, all LGUs led by their respective local chief executives are now required to pass a list of those who will be vaccinated for the specific day, after which they will send the specific number of doses based on the list during the vaccination day.
Diaz said they will not deliver any vaccines to venues which are not well prepared.
Nurses from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and officials from the Department of Health will also be present to monitor the vaccination.
Once the vaccination for the day is completed, any remaining doses which are unused will be returned to the PHO, along with the used syringes and other supplies.
Diaz said with the new system, he hopes that the province’s vaccination records will be updated and proper waste disposal will be observed.
Negros Occidental currently has about 13,000 doses of Sinovac jabs available for distribution./DGB, WDJ
