Facing frustrated murder charges, a 42-year-old man was finally arrested at Sitio Saisi, Barangay Buenavista in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental after 13 years of hiding.
Melvin Panueba, a resident of the village’s Sitio Cantupa, was caught on the strength of an arrest warrant around 5:50 p.m. on Monday, Himamaylan City police said.
Judge Franklin J. Demonteverde of the Regional Trial Court – Branch 55 in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental issued the arrest warrant on September 29, 2008.
According to the report, the case against Panueba was filed sometime in 2008. Police said a brawl broke out during a basketball game where the suspect stabbed the victim using a knife.
The suspect is now detained at the Himamaylan City Police Station.
The court recommended a P200,000 bail bond for his temporary liberty./WDJ
