San Carlos City Mayor Rene Gustilo revealed over the weekend that the number of active COVID-19 cases in the city continue to drop.

Based on the latest data released by the Provincial Incident Management Team of Negros Occidental, the city only has 54 active COVID-19 cases.

Gustilo said contact tracing, swabbing and consistency is the formula they are using and has been proven effective in battling COVID-19.

At its peak, San Carlos City was previously one of the worst hit local government units in Negros Occidental with over 300 COVID-19 cases.

Overall, San Carlos City has had a total of 1,705 COVID-19 cases since March of last year, of which 1,588 have recovered and 65 fatalities.

The city is also on track to start inoculating those under the A4 (other frontline workers) this month.

The vaccination drive in the city is also picking up with 407 receiving their inoculation last Friday and another 372 last Thursday./DGB, WDJ
