Jokić triple-double lifts Denver past Orlando

Denver Nuggets leaned on a triple-double efforts of Nikola Jokić to score a 110-99 victory over Orlando Magic in the 2020-2021 NBA Season on Tuesday night (Wednesday in the Philippines) at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

Jokić tallied 28 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists, while Jamal Murray chipped in 21 markers as the Nuggets moved up to fifth place in Western Conference with 26-17 win-loss slate.

Michael Porter Jr. contributed 18 points, while Will Barton and PJ Dozier ended up with 17 and 14 markers, respectively, for the Nuggets.

Denver set the tone early with conversions from Jokić for a 30-15 lead. The lead grew further for the Nuggets in the second period behind Porter and Murray for a 61-39 halftime lead.

The Magic slowly clawed its way back in the second half as they trimmed the deficit to 84-89 but timely baskets from Murray and Barton upped the Nuggets lead to double figures.

Evan Fournier finished the match with 31 points, while Nikola Vucevic and Al Farouq Aminu added 18 and 17 markers, respectively, as the Magic dropped to 14-29 slate.

Julius Randle, meanwhile, had a solid outing as New York Knicks (22-22) took down Washington Wizards (15-27) at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

Randle finished the match with 37 points and six rebounds, while RJ Barrett and Alec Burks contributed 21 and 20 points, respectively, for the Knicks.

In other results, New Orleans Pelicans (19-24) walloped the shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers (28-16), 128-111; while Phoenix Suns (29-13) torched Miami Heat (22-22), 110-100.
