A contractor was killed after he was shot by an unidentified individual in a sugarcane plantation at Purok Santan, Barangay Cansalongon in Negros Occidental’s Isabela town on Monday, March 8.

Authorities identified the fatality as 65-year-old Reynaldo Molines, a resident of the said place.

Isabela town police chief, Police Major Joseth Partidas, said Molines was heading to his workplace when he was shot by a lone gunman.

The gunman immediately fled the crime scene, while bystanders immediately rushed Molines to the Ignacio L. Arroyo Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead-on-arrival.

Partidas said prior to the murder, Molines had already been receiving several death threats.

Isabela Police Station is currently investigating every angle in the case and is currently eyeing the murder’s motive may be connected to the victim’s job as a contractor./DGB, WDJ
