Bacolod City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan issued a statement last Wednesday informing the public that they would be cracking down on those creating and spreading false reports regarding the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19.
In his statement, the City Legal Office will coordinate with the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group to monitor such cases.
Once tracked down, perpetrators will be found in violation of RA 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012; along with RA 11332, or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.
In addition, establishments catering to the individual in question will also be sanctioned.
Meanwhile, Bayatan said official notices from the city will be posted to social media via the Bacolod City PIO. Evelio “Bing” Leonardia, and Bing Leonardia accounts./WDJ
