Summit, Cobra Berry Blast advance to semis

 

Summit and Cobra Berry Blast advanced to the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Invitational Cup Class B semifinals last week at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym. Summit pulled off a 69-65 upset victory over Sunkist while Cobra Berry Blast beat Vitamilk.

Arvin Gustilo produced his best result of the tournament by delivering 25 points for Summit, while Leo Bat-og scored 13, and Pol Morales added 12.

Summit led 32-38 at the half off contributions by Morales and Gustilo.

Despite Summit slowing down and only producing 12 points in the third period, Sunkist was unable to catch up and remained down 44-38 heading into the final quarter.

Dante Ma and Tonton Chua scored 11 and eight points, respectively, for Sunkist to open the quarter; however, Gustilo replied with 17 points, along with eight from Bat-og. Summit went on to score the final 10 points from the free throw line connecting on 10 out of 14 free throws to seal the victory.

Meanwhile, Ma led Sunkist with 15 points, Chua scored 11, DK Equipaje added six, and Brian Ong and Brix Aroobbang each contributed five.

Summit next faces Cobra Citrus, while Cobra Berry Blast will meet Nestea.WDJ
