Third slashing in the

town since January

Three were left wounded following a slashing incident on Saturday in Igbaras’ Barangay Lab-on. Authorities identified the victims as Juanito Mampula and his nephew Franklin Mampula, who are currently confined at Guimbal District Hospital; while the former’s brother, Gregorio, is being treated at the Western Visayas Medical Center.
According to police, around 5:00 p.m., Franklin reportedly heard his uncles talking about him and, upon confronting them, a fight broke out. He supposedly struck first but the two responded in similar fashion.
Earlier this year, a 31-year-old man was hacked to death in his home in the town’s Barangay Mulangan. According to initial investigations by the Igbaras Police Station, an unidentified suspect entered the home around 1:30 a.m. and slashed the victim, Ronnel Elbao, who was sleeping in the living room.
Later that month, a man was detained after allegedly slashing his minor son in Barangay Buga.
According to police, the victim arrived home intoxicated and was confronted by his father, 43-year-old Diokno Velasco, when an argument ensued. The suspect then grabbed a bolo and struck his son in the neck./WDJ
