A 15-year-old student was allegedly raped Wednesday morning by a tricycle driver in sugarcane field at Hacienda Gonzaga in Bacolod City’s Barangay Mansilingan. Police have requested anonymity for the student but confirmed the minor is a resident of the said barangay.
Based on information provided by the victim’s cousin to Police Station 7, around 7:30 a.m., the victim was waiting at the corner of their home when they stopped a tricycle. The student requested a ride to school but the driver drove towards Barangay Handumanan.
The victim requests for the tricycle driver to stop were ignored.
Upon reaching a sugarcane field, the victim jumped off the tricycle but the driver gave chase and, upon catching the teenage student, the driver punched and raped them.
Once the sexual assault was over, the victim was ordered to board the tricycle and was brought to another part of the sugarcane field. However, upon seeing several farm laborers in the area, the minor again jumped from the vehicle and shouted for help.
The farmers went to assist the victim, with one of them boarding his vehicle to try and chase down the suspect, who immediately sped away.
The laborers managed to recover the suspect’s slippers and mobile phone, which were handed over to police.
Based on a description provided by the victim, the suspect is around 25 to 30 years old; between 5’8” to 5’10” in height; fair complexion; long hair; medium built; and has a cut on the forehead.
