A 47-year-old old woman was arrested over the weekend after she allegedly kidnapped a five-day-old baby from Don Salvador Uno in Cadiz City’s Barangay Tinampaan. Police identified the suspect as Dorena Arquio, a resident of the Purok Hitalon in the city’s Barangay Zone 4.
Based on a report issued by the Cadiz City police, the baby, whom police have requested anonymity, was born last February 16 at the Cadiz City District Hospital. Arquio then reportedly approached the baby’s parents, Corie and Rolen Inocencio, and offered to help fix their documents in order to be discharged from the hospital.
When the couple returned home with Arquio last Saturday afternoon, the suspect allegedly brought the baby to a sari-sari store and did not return.
The couple then reported the incident to the local Women and Children’s Protection Desk.
The baby was eventually rescued after several residents claimed they saw the suspect aboard a tricycle.
While the motive remains unclear, the family announced intentions to file kidnapping charges./DGB, WDJ
