The Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Office is preparing a project proposal to construct a beef processing plant in Bago City. In a radio interview over Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod over the weekend, office head, Dr. Renante Decena, said the proposal was included in the annual investment plan, which was presented during the Provincial Development Council meeting last week.
The provincial official pointed out the project seeks to supply beef products.
He said they are presently awaiting P20 million in funding in order to start renovating the slaughter house in Bago City, along with the construction of a meat processing and cold storage facility.
Decena also pointed out, Bago City was chosen for its location since most of the beef supply comes in through southern Negros. In addition, the locality offers access to nearby ports and airports where they can transport products immediately.
He added, the proposal will help cattle raisers in the province./DGB, WDJ
