The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology detected two earthquakes in Negros Oriental yesterday.
The first tremor struck north of La Libertad at 1:46 a.m. and measured 1.4 in magnitude; while the second quake, which measured 2.1 in magnitude, occurred later that morning, 5:45 a.m., with an epicenter off the coast of Siaton.
The agency reported no damages as a result of the seismic activity nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Earthquakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
