Lacson: It is not in the province, no need to worry
By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson called for calm amid the ongoing threat by the latest coronavirus, dubbed the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
“If you have flu-like symptoms, go to the nearest health facility,” the governor said. “Let them know where were you the last two weeks and who were with you.”
However, he pointed out, “[2019-nCoV] is not present in our province right now and there is no cause to worry.”
Earlier, Lacson ordered all 11 district hospitals and the Teresita Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital to be on alert. In addition, provincial health officer, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, said he also notified district hospitals to be aware of what is happening.
In the event of a domestic 2019-nCoV case, the governor said an advisory will be sent to the hospitals once a patient is referred for isolation at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City.
Patients exhibiting 2019-nCoV symptoms will be closely monitored, especially if they recently visited Wuhan, China, where the said virus originated.
At least 56 people have died in China from the new CoV strain, along with nearly 2,000 cases around the world.
CoV is described as a large family of viruses with some causing less-severe disease, such as the common cold, and others more severe disease, such as Middle East respiratory syndrome, or MERS; and severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS./DGB, WDJ
