A 1.7-magnitude earthquake was detected near Binalbagan early Friday morning. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the tremor struck south of the town around 2:46 a.m.
A subsequent Phivolcs bulletin reported no damages as a result of the seismic activity nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
