Brgy. Tangub announces they will not participate

The “Business One-Stop-Shop,” which provides a venue for the renewal of business permits and registration of new businesses, is currently underway at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC). The event is scheduled to run until January 20.
According to Assistant City Treasurer Arlene Memoria, the event opens from Monday to Friday, beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.; and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
All government agencies, City Hall offices, along with barangays are expected to be on hand to process their respective documents.
In previous years, not all barangays participated in the event. In anticipation, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier issued an executive order requiring all barangays to set up desks at the BCGC.
According to a city government release, Barangays 7, 11, 12, 17, 18, 23, 29, 38, 40, 41, Alangilan, Alijis, Bata, Cabug, Estefania, Mandalagan, Mansilingan, Montevista, Punta Taytay, Pahanocoy, Singcang-Airport, Taculing, and Villamonte were present last Thursday, January 2.
Despite the mayor’s order, Barangay Tangub Captain Noli Villarosa penned a letter to Leonardia indicating his community will not be participating in the event due to the presence of several “illegal structure owners” continuing to obstruct roads within his jurisdiction.
He expressed his desire to instill discipline and suggested they undergo an orientation before they are issued a barangay clearance.
In response, Executive Assistant Samuel Montoyo, a member of the Anti-Red Tape Act Core Team, said he will recommend the mayor penalize the barangay official for disobeying the order.
He added, “The order is important in relation to the ease of doing business.”
Villarosa reacted to the city official and affirmed, while he respects the opinion of Montoyo, they will not participate and asked the city to cooperate./DGB, WDJ
