Nearly P12M in assistance released

across the Western Visayas

The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Region VI (DSWD-6), various local government units, and other agencies released a total P11.9 million across the Western Visayas to those affected by Typhoon Ursula.
According to DSWD-6 Information Officer May Rago, the government agency provided P8.96 million, which included food packs, non-food items, and burial and financial assistance.
She added, a total 17,061 food packs have been distributed. Meanwhile, eligible recipients each received P5,000 in financial assistance or P20,000 in burial aid.
Last month, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas directed City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Donna Magno to coordinate with certain towns that would be eligible to receive assistance from the city./WDJ
