Iloilo City Hall exceeded its revenue collection target for the whole year as early as November.

“In terms of collection as of November 30, 2019, the City Government already surpassed its Calendar Year 2019 P1.31-billion target from local sources by P208-million with actual collection performance of P1.52-billion,” said City Treasurer Jinny C. Hermano.

During Mayor Jerry P. Treñas’ first five months in office, a total of P471.79-million revenue was realized representing 99 percent of the city’s second semester target of P474-million.

Hermano added that at least P85-million more for the month of December is expected to be collected from different revenue sources, placing collection estimate for second semester to P556-million or at least P82-million more than the target.

“Following the trend, collection efficiency from local sources may reach 120 percent or P290-million more than the estimated collectibles for 2019,” he added.

“By realizing millions of pesos in savings from overpriced procurement of previous administration, I commend Mayor Treñas in taking the lead for the utilization of public funds in the most efficient way possible even at a time when the City Government is financially fluid having sufficient funds to payoff all its obligations,” Hermano said. /WDJ
