Swimmers from Victorias City recently swept the 3rd Sinadya Swim Meet, which took place in Roxas City, Capiz.
Troy Castor ruled the 100-meter and 200-meter freestyle, 50-meter and 100-meter butterfly, and 200-meter individual medley events; along with second place finishes in the 50-meter backstroke and breaststroke. In addition, he was also named “Most Outstanding Swimmer” among boys between the ages of 11 and 12.
On the girls’ side, Chloe Villarino won the 100-meter and 200-meter freestyle, 100-meter butterfly, and 50-meter backstroke competitions; while taking second place in the 50-meter breaststroke and 100-meter backstroke; along with a third place finish in the 50-meter butterfly. Additionally, she was named “Most Outstanding Swimmer” among girls between the ages of nine and 10.
Meanwhile, Zyra Villarino ruled the 50-meter and 100-meter butterfly, 100-meter freestyle, and 100-meter backstroke; along with third place in the 50-meter backstroke.
Head coach Cris Bancal said his three prized swimmers have the potential to represent the country in international competitions.
“Just like [these] three, we have lots of potential swimmers in the province,” he said. “With the right program and government support, we can develop more Troys and Chloes.”ASC. WDJ
