Letrán takes Game 1
By Adrian Stewart Co

Colegio de San Juan de Letrán captured Game 1 of the 95th NCAA men’s basketball finals with a narrow 65-64 win over San Beda University earlier this week at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Trailing 60-56 late in the game, Fran Yu and Jerrick Balanza connected back-to-back triples and, along with an inside hit from Larry Muyang, Letrán surged to a 63-60 lead. San Beda then cut the deficit to 63-62 but a pass from Yu to Muyang extended Letrán’s lead to 65-62.
A final push from San Beda made it a one-point game but Yu’s defensive stop sealed the win.
Yu finished with 10 points, six assists, three steals, and three rebounds for Letrán; while Edson Batiller scored 12 points; and Balanza added 10.
Game 2 takes place tomorrow at the same venue. If Letrán is successful, it will be their first NCAA championship in four years./ASC, WDJ
