Ceres FC pounds Green Archers United, advances to semifinals

Ceres-Negros FC advanced to the 2019 Copa Paulino Alcántara semifinals earlier this week following their 4-0 win over Green Archers United at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa City, Batangas.
Midfielder James Younghusband opened scoring in the 16th minute. The goal turned out to be the only one of the half as the Bacolod City-based side went into halftime up 1-0.
Into the second half, Ceres midfielder Mike Ott made it 2-0 in the 68th minute.
The Negrense club then locked up the win with strikers Charles Ivan Barberan and Robert Lopez Mendy scoring in the 80th and 82nd minutes, respectively.
The win secured the top spot in Group A for Ceres-Negros FC with Mendiola FC coming in second following their 2-2 draw with the Philippine men’s U-22 national football team.
The semifinals, which kickoff this weekend, will see Ceres FC take on Stallion Laguna FC and Mendiola facing defending cup champions Kaya FC-Iloilo./ASC, WDJ
