The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA-Atlas (UPHSD Altas) came from behind to secure an 85-83 win over De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde yesterday in the 95th NCAA men’s basketball season at the San Juan Arena.
Kim Aurin posted career-best 29 points for UPHSD Altas, along with 10 rebounds; while Jielo Razon added 15 points; and Tonton Peralta chipped in 11.
Down by as much as 15 points in the opening half, Aurin singlehandedly pulled UPHSD Altas out their slump and guided them to a 62-60 advantage heading into the fourth.
The two sides later found themselves tied 66-66, which was followed by five straight points from Edgar Charcos, along with baskets from Peralta and Benedict Adamos. to establish an 82-71 lead.
Benilde responded with run in the final two minutes and got as close as 85-83. They also had a chance to win except Prince Carlos muffed his three-point attempt.
In other results, Colegio de San Juan de Letrán scored a 97-84 win over Arellano University, while San Sebastian College-Recoletos pulled off a 62-59 victory over Jose Rizal University./ASC, WDJ
