The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) validating team recently gave Bacolod City an 87 percent on its road clearing operations, which is above the 70 percent passing rate set by the government agency.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia extended his appreciation to local barangay officials, the DILG, Philippine National Police, among others. He also addressed those affected by the clearing operations and urged them to “comply with the president’s directive.”
Earlier in the week, Leonardia announced the city’s clearing operations were 94 percent complete.
At the time, Executive Assistant for Barangay Affairs Butch Soliguen added, 29 of the city’s 61 barangays were reportedly 100 percent cleared, while several others were said to be at 90 percent.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City was earlier rated at 83 percent on its road clearing operations,
The rating is lower than the 95 percent projected by Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas and the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office. In response, Task Force on Anti-Squatting and Illegal Structures head Love Joy Hosenilla said 83 percent means their operations were “a success.”
However, the city official did acknowledge operations needed to continue in some barangays due to remaining obstructions, such as vehicles blocking roads, and suggested the city pass an ordinance regulating on-road parking./WDJ
