Man arrested for firearms possession in Mandalagan

A 27-year-old man was arrested late Wednesday night after he was caught in possession of a firearm in Bacolod City’s Barangay Mandalagan. Police identified the suspect as Monitor Alcantara, a resident of Purok Tuburan in the said barangay.
Information provided by Police Station 3 (PS3) said, around 11:15 p.m., station commander, Police Major Ruel Culanag, received a call from a concerned citizen claiming she saw Alcantara holding an unknown caliber firearm.
Culanag immediately ordered personnel to proceed to the area to verify the report and, upon arrival, saw Alcantara holding a .45 caliber pistol.
Police immediately arrested Alcantara after failing to show any permits to carry a firearm.
Aside from the .45 caliber pistol, police also recovered four live .45 caliber bullets.
Alcantara faces illegal possession of firearms charges and is detained at PS3./DGB, WDJ
