
Both the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Adamson University recently clinched spots in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference with UST scoring a 25-14, 25-17, 10-25, 23-25, 15-12 win over Far Eastern University (FEU) while Adamson pulled off a come-from-behind 14-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-21 victory over Ateneo de Manila University.
Ejiya Laure registered 18 points for UST including 14 attacks, three aces, and a block; while rookie Imee Hernandez added 14 markers.
UST, after taking a two-set lead, were tested after FEU forced a fifth set by winning the third and fourth.
In the decider, UST failed to maintain their 7-4 advantage and allowed FEU to snatch a 10-9 lead before Laure and Hernandez took matters into their own hands and seized the victory.
Meanwhile, Trisha Genesis led the way for Adamson with 19 points off 12 attacks, a kill block, and six aces; while rookie Lucille Almonte had a triple-double with 14 markers, 15 digs, and 11 receptions.
In the other match, Lyceum of the Philippines University cruised to a 25-6, 25-15, 25-14 sweep over the Technological Institute of the Philippines./ASC, WDJ
