Following Senator Manny Pacquiao’s split decision win over Keith Thurman last month for the World Boxing Association world welterweight belt, Manny Pacquiao Promotions President Sean Gibbons recently named three boxers who could potentially be the Filipino fighter’s next opponent.
While speaking during the Philippine Sportswriters Association forum at the Amelie Hotel Manila, he identified three American boxers: Danny Garcia, Mikey Garcia, and Shawn Porter.
Both Garcias are former champions with Danny Garcia previously holding a World Boxing Council (WBC) title and Mikey Garcia earlier carrying an International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao previously indicated intentions to fight the winner of Porter’s unification bout against Errol Spence, Jr., which is scheduled to take place on September 28.
“I hope to meet the winner of that Spence-Porter fight,” the Filipino boxer earlier stated. “My next fight is probably next year; after that, I am going back to the Philippines to work in the Senate.”
Spence is the current IBF world welterweight championship; while Porter, Pacquiao’s former sparring partner, is the WBC world welterweight champion./ASC, WDJ
