A businessman was shot and killed late Friday night after he was gunned down next to a pharmacy along B.S. Aquino Drive by riding-in-tandem suspects in Bacolod City’s Barangay 7.
Police identified the fatality as 67-year-old Ernest Baker, a resident of the said barangay.
According to Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Director, Police Colonel Henry Biñas, Baker had just left a dance studio when two men aboard a motorcycle stopped and opened fire with a .45 caliber firearm.
The assailants immediately fled while bystanders rushed Baker to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival due to a gunshot wound to the head.
Police Station 2 (PS2) commander, Police Captain Leo Estopa, meanwhile, said they have yet to identify the suspects and are presently reviewing footage from nearby closed-circuit television cameras.
Estopa said they are also investigating Baker’s businesses and property.
Police also believe the victim may have earlier received death threats as he had earlier requested a police escort./DGB, WDJ
